For those of you who are wanting to see your favorite characters wearing their best costumes, you can now recreate them in ICON. Codewalker of the Titan Network has found a way and from what I hear it works really well.

Even though it's still in late alpha stages, there has been a tremendous amount of interest in the Icon program that unlocks CoH's costume creator. I'm creating this thread to centralize all the information and discussion about it.

This post will always have the link to the latest version along with instructions, and is the best place to link to.

Requirements
You must have either the latest Issue 23 (version 2320.201207182341.1) or Issue 24 (version 2400.201208211101.1) game client installed. The NCSoft launcher is not required. The Issue 24 client has more costume parts available and is recommended if you have it.

Instructions

   Save icon.exe into your City of Heroes program folder. On a default install, this may be in C:\Program Files\City of Heroes, or C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes on 64-bit systems. It should have a cityofheroes.exe file in it as well.

   Use Explorer to browse to that folder, and double click icon.exe. You can create a shortcut to it if desired.

It is just about the end of the year and I must say, seeing all of the amazing artz and images of your CoH & CoV characters throughout this past year just warms my heart! Especially since our beloved cities of Paragon and the Rogue Isles have seen their final sunset. Perhaps one day we will once again be able to play there.

Thank you all for sharing your love for the game by sharing your work and collections here for the rest of us to oggle over. May you continue to be inspired to create and share your CoX characters with us in 2013.

Howdy Folks!

The "Signature CoH + CoV Characters ONLY" is now locked from any additional submissions. There has been an over abundance of characters that are not Signature characters that have been posted in the folder over the past several months, so the folder is now locked. Myself and the Gallery Directors will monitor the remaining open folders for any Signature character submissions and will move them into that folder for you.

FYI...Signature characters are the characters that are not controlled by the players. For example, Statesman, Lord Recluse, Positron and War Witch. NPCs are also ok to be included in the folder. What is NOT permitted in the folder are any player controlled characters.

For clarity on the other folders, here's what we'd like to see in them...

SIGNATURE CoH + CoV CHARACTERS ONLY:
This folder is for Art of the City of Heroes/Villains NPCs (NPC=Non Player Character). Some of the Signature Characters are Statesman, Lord Recluse, Positron, Castle and War Witch. Player controlled characters are not Signature Characters.


CoH + CoV "Heroes" ONLY
This folder is for any Hero, whether born that way or became that way.


CoV + COH "Villains" ONLY
This folder is for any Villain, whether born that way or became that way.


CoH + CoV Multiple Character Art ONLY
This folder is for any Hero or Villain that contains more than 1 character in the picture.


CoH + CoV Sequentials ONLY
This folder is for pieces that are set up like a comic strip or a panel. Each frame is set in a paricular order so the over all image makes sense when you read/view it in order.


Artists' Alley Submissions A-M
This folder is for the artists of Artists' Alley Submissions who regularly take City of Heroes/Villains commission work. The Artists' Alley members are permitted to post deviations to the Artists Submissions folders, which are organized alphabetically by *artist dA name*. Art submitted to these folders can be non-CoH related.


Artists' Alley Submissions N-Z
This folder is for the artists of Artists' Alley Submissions who regularly take City of Heroes/Villains commission work. The Artists' Alley members are permitted to post deviations to the Artists Submissions folders, which are organized alphabetically by *artist dA name*. Art submitted to these folders can be non-CoH related.


CoH + CoV Fan Fiction ONLY
This folder is for the members who are writers. This is where the stories regarding CoH & CoV characters are submitted. These stories may also include images.


Miscellaneous CoH + CoV-Related Content ONLY
This folder is for anything CoH or CoV related that doesn't fit the criteria for the other folders.


Screenshots
This folder is for all CoH & CoV screenshots. The only exceptions are the screenshots for character references, like screenies of costumes. Those go into the CoH + CoV Character REFS folder.


FArt Competition 2012
This forlder is for the contest participants to post their pieces in.


CoH + CoV Character REFS
This folder is for all images pertaining to CoH & CoV costumes and references. This includes screenshots.


CoXso Prize Artz
This folder is for the art that is created for the winners of the CoXso contests.
